Hello again.

Yesterday in Frankfurt was really good, The band were rockin´ like never before on this tour and now the busscall was at two so we hit the bars for couple of hours after load-out. And the drive was only four hours so I decided to travel in the Tiamat bus for a change. Me and Tiamats guitartech then had a little get together till six AM when I crawled back to our own bus and passed out. But in the photo there´s Spencer, Tiamats drumtech.
Fun evening. Very fun.

Todays build and soundcheck were pretty easy, good venue, good gear fun people to work with. What more could one ask for? And above all they pimped the console.

Batschkapp, Frankfurt

After the show yesterday the busscall was immediately after load-out so there was no chance in seeing the city by night, which was kind of shame ´cause it seemed to be a pretty nice city when we had a little walk after the soundcheck. But we made it up by having a little party on the bus. Miraculously today I wasn´t at all hungovered. It must be the climate ;)

Todays load-in/soundcheck etc. was pretty easy despite the venuesize/stairs and so on. We got all the three bands setup on stage so there´s still even a little space to move around. And the fact that the local techs were really helpful didn´t slow us down either.

After the soundcheck we again had a little walk, nice to get some fresh air at least once a day.

And as you can see in the picture we´ve been shopping also. That is the latest addition to the entertainment gear we have with us. Yes I know it´s small but sounds great and it runs on batteries in case there´s no power near. And it also has a remote control for iPod.

Depot, Leuwen

Yesterdays show in Die Röhre was actually really good and intense. So the circumstances and gear does not really affect the actual show that much, or what. I don´t know. But still yesterday was good, but the gear was not. ;)

Today we got to Leuwen and a club called Depot. At both ends they have an MH3 and all Nexo for speakers. No sidefills, which is a bit of a downer, but then again yesterday I couldn´t use the sidefills ´cause there wasn´t enough auxes ;)

Die Röhre, Stuttgart

The name says it all. I think this use to be a bombshelter or a sewer ;) A long concrete tube which smells like something is growing on it, you know the green stuff which is not good for your health. Okay maybe it goes with cheese, roquefort for example. But that´s it for now, let´s see how the show goes. GB4 is not my number one choice for monitors, is it too much to ask for a console which has XLR-connectors on outputs ;)

Yesterday went easy, after the dinner at the steakhouse all of us went back to the hotel and got some sleep. Yesterday I also got myself a new camera so there might be some photographic evidences coming up in the near future.

The Docks, Lausanne and off day in Stuttgart.

The show in Pratteln on saturday was great and I had a lot of fun. After the show we had a little party ´cause both our guitarplayer and the tourmanager had birthday on that or the next day. You can figure out the rest yourselves.
So yesterdays Lausanne wasn´t the easiest show. It still went ok without difficulties of any sort. After the load-out we went straight to our bus and watched couple episodes of Deadwoods second season.
Today we got to our hotel in Stuttgart around 10-11 AM, Tumppi and me allready went to see the city and I had some sushi over there. We were back at the hotel around 4PM just in time for sauna which opened at four. Now I´m chillin´ at my room and in an hour it´s dinnertime. There´s a steakhouse right next to the railway station and it is supposed to be the best steakhouse in town since 1968. Not bad.

Estragon, Bologna and Z7, Pratteln

Oh happy day.

Yesterdays Estragon in Italy, Bologna was a good one for me. They had an MH3 on monitors instead of the Spirit that was informed earlier. Allways fun to work with gear that is capable to do the job at hand ;) But a little downer was the radiostuff that was in the air even before I connected any of my gear. Never seen that much radiotraffic on my scanner before, I could only fit in four of my seven transmitters. But fortunately four InEars was enough and I could still fit in the wireless leadvocal and both guitars. And the pizzas Jussi brought us were excellent.

Today we got to Pratteln, Z7 at some point in the morning and now I´m happy. We´ve been doing laundry all day and they´ve bought a new monitorconsole, a first Heritage3K on this tour and most likely also the last. I´m also able to record the show now ´cause we´ve been carrying a multitrack recorder with us just in case there´s a chance of doing that.
Now we just finished the soundcheck and everything´s perfect. Allways a pleasure to work with professional gear. Tiamat guys went shopping in Ikea and brought some scandinavian food with so I had a chance to eat some näkkileipä, kallen mätitahna and valkosipulisilli.

Backstage, Munich and Szene, Vienna

Yesterday was pretty laid back, for me at least, due to the fact that we met some of the guys from Rasmus the other day in Budapest. We had a show in Budapest and they had a day off, and you can imagine what it´s like when finns get together abroad. Despite the headache the next day it was fun to see the guys, ´cause it´s been a long time since I´ve last met them. Fun evening.

Yesterday we were in Munich and the venue was really good and for now the award for the best catering is held by the Backstage, Munich.

After the show we watched a couple episodes of Deadwood, season one almost done.

Today we got to Vienna somewhere between 10-11 AM and load-in wasn´t until 1 PM so we had a nice quiet breakfast before the audiophysical part of the day. Tiamat is just about to start their soundcheck and I got all my stuff allready tested and connected so I´ll just wait for our turn and while waiting have some time for blogging. Today they got an SM12 on the monitors, which is nice. Yesterdays DDA was good, but DDA:s in general are not my favorite consoles. Maybe it´s got something to do with the fact that every DDA I ever worked with were old and and had some minor faults due to their age. But then again it´s only Rock´N´Roll.

Petöfi Hall, Budapest

After that dinner last night I hit the sack just little over midnight so there was not any wild parties for me. Sometimes I surprice even myself with these wise decisions. I don´t usually make too many of those ;)
Sleep and resting just was something that I really needed and this time I had the spine to listen to my head.
So obviously this morning was easy, got off the bed about eleven AM and headed to the lobby and bus. We started the Load-In at 1 PM and we were ready with our and Tiamats soundcheck by 4.30 which left the opening act, Ava Inferni, still over an hour to do their check. The local sounguys have Yamaha PM4000:s on both ends and all the cabeling, sidefills, PA etc. is good and working. Plus we have a big stage. Usually if everything works and there´s enough room, then everything´s easy. Okay the PM4000 is not the best solution to do 4 stereoIEMs, but I still get the job done with that rather easily so what am I bitching about. I´ve definitely seen a lot worse monitorsettings in my life many times. Always good to be in Hungary, I love the country.

BTW one of the best caterings in this tour.

But as usual the show is about to start and I have few things left to do so tadaa and off I go.

Day off

Today was our first real day off, I don´t really count last monday as one ´cause we spent the whole day sitting in a bus on our way to Hamburg from Stockholm.

Today we got to the hotel in Budapest at 10 AM and some of us headed straight to sauna, which was a real finnish thing. Amazing after a while.
After that we went shopping some chips from the nearby supermarket and after Tesco me, Tumppi and Pasi headed to the city center. I saw one old friend over there, who I last met last summer, which was nice. She showed us the better places to eat instead of the overprized ones on the shoppingarea. We got ourselves some pretty damn good hungarian cuisine with a total cost for all three of us just a little over 30 euros. And that also included the beers we had.

I just got back to the hotel couple hours ago and I´ll propably be going to bed soon. Nice to get some sleep every now and then in a bed which is not moving ;)

Abaton, Prague

I had a request from our drumtech to do this in english, so here it goes. I can at least give it a try ;)

Today we arrived in Prague about 1 PM and heard that the other bus had some problems so they would be couple hours late. So we did our load-in first. The others finally arrived just a little over an hour late so we were kind of in time.

And you can believe me that this was the easy part. Here´s something really strange with the electricity over here. Everything was buzzing and humming and drummers headphone amp refused to co-operate with inhouse power so I had to give him a wireless receiver which worked fine. And our bassamp wouldn´t start until sixth or fifth try and all these because of the power. All that hassle left us with only 5 minutes of soundchecktime with the band. Let´s see how it goes during the show ;)

But then again tomorrow is a day-off in Budapest and there´s a sauna in our hotel.

Progresja, Varsova ja StudioKlub, Krakova

Varsovan keikka menikin internetpimennossa. Ei langatonta nettiä, mutta muuten ilmatila täynnä tavaraa. Teetti jonkunverran mahduttaa omat sekaan, mut onneks on toi scanneriominaisuus tuossa R-sarjan vastaanottimessa niin ei hätiä mitiä olleskaan. Muuten se poikain toteutus ei ihan kymppiä saa ainakaan sen lavasetupin vuoksi. Keulilla niil oli uus MH3 ja PA:na jotain ilmeisen hyvää Meyeria, Galileolla ohjasivat pyydystä. Monitoreihin olivat sit raahanneet sen niiden vanhan etupään bulsan eli Craftin K2:sen. Hyvä lauta se mun mielestä on, tosin täysin väärä valinta stereoIEM-hommiin vielä kun soundcheckin lomassa AUX 8 sano sopimuksen irti niin piti lennosta tempasta yks ryhmä monoks. On ollu parempiakin päiviä. Itsellä siis. No mutta nyt ollaan Krakovassa ja tiskinä M7, mulla on vielä tikulla presetit noille muillekkin bändeille niin päästään aika helpolla tänään ainakin lavapäässä. Ei kai tuolla keulillakaan mitään hätää oo minkään kanssa. Hyvä meininki.

Huomenna Praha ja sen jälkeen välipäivä Budapestissa. Mahtavuutta.

Werk II, Leipzig

Karavaani toi meidät aamulla Leipzigiin ja nyt taas tossa vieressä tehdään soundcheckiä. Aika autopilotilla mennään jo tässä vaiheessa reissua, 3 keikkaa takana ja 17 edessä ;)
Nyt oli monitoripäässä iloinen yllätys kun olivat tuoneet M7:n ja siihen vielä lisää ulostuloja eli sain ekaa kertaa retkellä kytkettyä kaikki romut. Nyt siis sain jopa sparelähettimen ja kitarateknikon kuuntelun kytkettyä. Ja mikä parasta, nyt kun on noita ulostuloreikiä sen verta paljon tiskissä niin mitään ei tarvii patchata bändien välissä ja lavahautkin menee multsareilla eli rummut kun vaihtuu niin riittää et vaihtaa vaan kaapelin rasiasta toiseen. Mahtavuutta.
Eilen oli eri meininki. Vähän ahdasta lavalla ja talon monitorijäbän mielestä pilasin kaiken kun raapasin kahta kaistaa pois sidefilleistä. Hyvä keikka oli kuitenkin ja mukavaa.

Columbia Club, Berlin

Nyt ollaan rantauduttu otsikon mukaiseen paikkaan ja Tiamat tekee just checkiä tossa seinän takana eli on aikaa aavistuksen datailla. Viimeks oltiin tossa pihan toisella puolella Columbia Hallin puolella, oli aavistuksen isommat puitteet sillon ;)
No näillä nyt mennään. Ovat tosin hoitaneet 16 auxisen pöydän tänne eli ei tarvii tinkiä toteutuksesta, which is nice.
Pienehkä lava tosin tohon produktioon kun on kuiteskin kahdet rummut, kiipparit, bassokamat ja kolmet kitarakamat pystyssä. No mahduttiin kuitenkin ja kyllä tästä iltamat vielä saadaan aikaan. Ja huomenna Leipzig ennen itäblokin pyörähdystä.

Eilinen Hampurin Markthallen veto meni pienistä vastoinkäymisistä huolimatta oikeinkin hyvin. Oli uus lauta monitoripäässä (Midaksen Siena) tosin pari liitintä ilmeisestikin tehtaan jäljiltä vähän huonosti kiinni kun ei ekasta kahdeksasta kanavasta menny mitn ryhmiin 13 ja 15 ja kanavista 9-16 ei menny mitn ryhmään 15. Tein pikaratkasun ja vetelin ekat kuustoista kanavaa left-outista summana yhteen kanavaan tiskin perällä ja tarjoilin sieltä monosummana solistille ja kitaristille rummut ja basson. Ihan ok lopputuloksella. Aika kiirus oli tehdä ratkaisuja kun vasta checkissä ilmeni moinen. Eivät oo kuulemma vielä kertaakaan aiemmin tarvinnu siellä ryhmiä yli kahdentoista eli eivät oo huomanneet moista. Konepelti auki ja kytkentöjä tarkastelemaan.

Ei kai tässä taaskaan tällä erää kummempaa.

9000 km, 20 keikkaa, 12 maata kolmessa viikossa.

Otsikon mukainen reissu läks mukavasti käyntiin kun sunnuntai aamuna oli Arlandan kentällä vastassa rikkinäinen bussi, jotain sähköhätää siinä oli vaihteistossa. No hyvä et meni Ruotsissa kun autona on scania ;)
No ei muuta kun taksilla venuelle ja hotellia buukkaamaan kun bussi joutu lääkärille.
Maanantain vapaa Hampurissa muuttukin ajopäiväks ;( Alunperin oli kai tarkoitus lähteä Tukholmasta Hampuriin yhden maissa yöllä eli oltas oltu perilässä iltapäivästä/alkuillasta. Päästiin vaihteistorikon takia sit vasta kahden maissa maanantai päivänä starttaamaan kohti Hampuria.
Ja mitä tulee siihen sunnuntaiseen Klubbenin keikkaan niin aika hyvä meininki startiks, orkka roimi hyvin ja yleisö diggas, vikassa biisissä kävi viel joku jenkki karjumassa taustoja sparemikkiin. Pyynnöstä siis, ei se sieltä yleisön seasta tullu ;)
Niin ja melko leppoisaa ryhmää tuon toisen orkan eli Tiamatin crew, reissusta on siis kaiken järjen mukaan tulossa mukava.

Sitten vois vielä käärästä pakettiin ton edellisen viikon noin muuten ja samalla tuon idolipätkän.
Keskiviikkona oli taas vuorossa Fosterssia ja AC/DC:tä, tällä kertaa Kotkassa ja konserttiareenan virkaa toimitti Amarillo. Ryhmääkin saapu kivasti eli ei tarvinnu tyhjälle salille vedellä. Mukavaa oli. Muuten viikko menikin säätäessä kalustoa, keisejä ja kaapeleita tulevaa europätkää varten ennen kun pääs tekemään vielä sen viimesen idolirypistyksen.
Viimesen viikonlopun agendassa oli Joensuun Areena perjantaina ja Turun Caribia lauantaina. Joensuuhun lähdettiin jo edellisenä iltana ja perillä oltiin puolen kahden maissa yöllä ja seuraavana aamuna kun piti töissä olla vasta yhdeltätoista niin jäi jopa aikaa itselle. Rakennuksessa oli sen verta tanakasti apukantoa yms. joten puuhailut meni niin jouhevasti et kerkis käydä jopa kylillä rakennuksen ja soundcheckin välissä. Käytiin Jannen ja bändin kanssa intialaisessa lounaalla ja setä-Clasun puodissa ihmettelemässä mitä kaikkea ei ihminen tienny tarvitsevansa.
Illan keikan jälkeen ei menny kun vajaa tunti niin auto oli pakattu ja päästiin lähtemään kohti Turkua. Iso kiitos Pekalle ja Joensuun poppareille.
Matkalla meillä oli vielä pikku stoppi Varkaudessa kun Apulanta oli siellä konsertoimassa.
Lauantaina saavuttiin Turkuun aamuseiskan maissa ja työt alotettiin ysiltä.
Ja jumalauta mikä meininki oli keikalla. Viimenen ilta niin koko ryhmä kävi aikamoisilla kierroksilla ja se näky. Kävin itsekin lauteilla yhdessä biisissä featuroimassa lehmänkellon kanssa ja siinä biisin lopussa kun piti vielä rumpuraiserilta hypätä alas niin teloin toisen polven. Nyt rupee jo helpottamaan, polvi siis. Kaikenkaikkiaan helvetin mukava retki. A1-kalusto ja joka puolella pelkästään hyviä tyyppejä. Tähän vielä lisäks suhteellisen leppoisa aikataulu, hyvät bussit, mahtava crew, hyvä bändi ja solistitkin kun vielä oli helvetin mukavia niin ei tuossa tarvinnu kenenkään napista tai ahistua mistään. Josko ens keväänä kerkeis kans tekemään moisen.

Tällä mennään

Pakkasta perkele

Se bilebändikeikka viime keskiviikolta ei sit toteutunu. Oli peruuntunu ilmeisestikin jo aikaa sitten, kukaan ei vaan muistanu mulle kertoa. No toisaalta jos ihan rehellisiä ollaan niin mä olin helvetin paljon mieluummin kuitenkin himassa sen illan.

Sinne Vuokattiin lähdettiin ajelemaan seiskan aikoihin torstai-iltana ja Juksu oli jossain vaiheessa yötä parkkeerannu meidän bussin siihen Katinkullan roudausovelle. Olin siis nukkumassa laskeutumisaikaan ja heräilin kympin maissa perjantaina roudaamaan. SV-soundin stereot ja lamput oli valmiina ja lava tyhjänä, siinä puuhailussa siis ei mitenkään kauhian pitkään menny vaikka hissukseen tehtiinkin. Aika leppoisat aikataulut meinaan ollu, mutta hyvä niin, ei pääse meinaan tulee kiire missään vaiheessa. Ja näinollen ei myöskään ahdista missään vaiheessa. Ketään.
Keikka meni leppoisasti ja shown jälkeen oli auto pakattu vähän kympin jäljestä illalla. Mökille saunomaan ja rentoilemaan, melko hyvin renouduttiinkin koko ryhmä. Taidettiin siinä jossain vaiheessa puhua myös audiota.

Vuokatista lähdettiin puol ysin aikaan aamulla siirtymään Ouluun, missä audiofyysinen osuus aloitettiin kait vähän ennen puolta päivää ja checkit kolmelta. Kaikki harjoitukset oli ohi jo ennen neljää. Siinä takahuoneen sohvalla kerkis näinollen ottamaan pienet torkutkin ennen iltamia.
Iltamat sujui ihan edellisten iltojen mallin mukaan loistavasti ja purun jälkeen kerkisin käymään hotellilla jo suihkussakin ennen kun kello vaihto vuorokautta. Nelivitosen kautta mutka ja takas hotellille odottelemaan aamuseiskan lähtöä kotia kohti. Kotimatkalla mulla oli yks omalle kohdalle sattuneista teleportaatioista onnistunein. Viimesin näköhavainto Oulusta lähtiessä oli sen Oulun motarin eteläpäässä oleva liikenneympyrä ja seuraava havainnointi ulkomaailmasta Linnatuuli Lahden eteläpuolella. Mahtavuutta.

Tänään oli tarkoitus mennä Hedcomiin opettelemaan tota tiskiä minkä kanssa on koko alkuvuos menty, mut jätin sen väliin kun tuli eilen illansuussa sähköpostia et briteissä tulee lunta niin ei kaverit pääse suomeen pitämään sitä seminaaria. No ei kai siinä mitn, olis ollu hauska vaan törmätä hahmoihin, mut toisella kertaa sit ;)

Huomenna Kotkaan AC/DC:n merkeissä ja torstaina illansuussa kohti Joensuuta. Vikat idolit menis nyt tulevana viikonloppuna Joensuussa ja Turussa. Sunnuntaina sit Tukholmaan.
